Miracle Moisturising Facial Scrub

ImageThis is a new one for me. If you have read my previous posts, you will know that I have dry/sensitive skin and finding skincare can be somewhat of a challenge for me. It has now come to a point where it takes a lot of research and trailing different products before I even consider buying something. And this is coming from someone who is persuaded easily by watching youtube videos! Drugstore products tend to send me running in the opposite direction as many seem to have too many chemicals for my liking. (Well that what my skin thinks anyway!)

This is especially true when it comes to buying facial scrubs…just the thought of them sends alarm bells ringing in my head! My first thoughts on facial scrubs were of the harshness on the skin, and the words ‘facial scrub’ and ‘hydration’ were worlds apart (a bit like chalk and cheese). I heard only good things about the Michael Todd products; they are organic (not full of nasty chemicals), cater for all skin types, and relatively decent priced…well I think so anyway for the amount that you get.

So with this in mind, one day I was debating on the website thinking do I? or don’t I? Bearing in mind that I like to try things out first, but then I just thought ‘sod it’… I’m going to give them a go, and I put my trust in many bloggers and youtubers. I ended up with quite a large order, but they do have 20% off…so this kind of made it ok….I like to tell myself that anyway!

Well Michael Todd, you have have converted me. My trust was well placed and I am so happy that I made the order. As mentioned in a previous post, I will be writing about all of the items that I bought, but I thought that this Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub deserved a special mention. Especially from someone who ‘doesn’t do’ facial scrubs.

As Michael Todd states, “Highly absorbent Activated Charcoal penetrates deeply into pores to draw out impurities and toxins. Refines texture and encourages skin renewal, leaving skin smooth and refreshed.” Well, let me tell you, this is spot on. At first I was a little dubious as I have always experienced a stinging sensation when trying anything like this….but no…nothing of the sort. It does feel gritty due to the Jojoba wax beads, which are the exfoliator. I put this on at the beginning of my shower, worked into the skin (but not over-stimulate) and rinsed off at the end of my shower. I was actually amazed the first time; my skin felt so soft and moisturised, which I didn’t think was possible. I now fear no more, this really does work and is super hydrating, especially if you follow with the ‘Blue Green Algae Toner’.

I love love love this and if you want a safe (gentle) scrub for you face, then you need to try this. I believe that if this can work for my skin, then it will work on all! It retails at $18.50 (-20%)+ $7.95 shipping so it isn’t the cheapest, but you can also pay a lot more in UK stores for many high-end brands.

My advise…give it a go! And be sure to let me know what you think. What is your favourite product from Michael Todd?

The Elixir of Life!…..well of hair at least!

Wella SP Luxe Oil – £24.99 (100ml) lookfantastic.com

Up until a few years ago, hair oils didn’t seem to be as much of a necessity as they are in today’s lifestyle. In the hear and now, if you are into beauty, you will have seen them advertised in blogs, magazines, on the television, youtube etc…and are regarded as a absolute essential if we are to keep our locks shiny and healthy. After all, we are a generation of heat styling and it has become a part of our everyday life….and to do this, we have to protect protect protect!!

Although MooroccanOil have set the standard (which I haven’t tried yet by the way…..I know where have I been right?!) many other brands have now followed suit. I received a sample of this recently, and I have to admit I haven’t really tried any hair oils before, but now understand what all the hype is about. After a few uses of this product, I have to say that I am now hooked and cannot imagine being without it.

Wella claims that it works by using reconstructive transform technology that transforms the hair inside and out, protecting the keratin; resulting in instant and long lasting softness. This is due to the combination of oils, containing natural Argan, Almond and Joboba. Almond oil is known for its super hydrating properties and lightweight texture, Argan oil is referred to as ‘liquid gold’ and is famous for its nourishing, cosmetic and medicinal qualities and Jojoba oil is great for split ends.

It also states that just after one application, hair will feel up to 10 times smoother and although i’m not to sure about the 10 times part, I absolutely have to agree! Hair feels soft, shiny, nourished and hydrated. This amazing elixir is also very light on the hair and not greasy in any form (and I should know, my hair is finer than fine!) making the hair easy to style. I know a lot of people will not bother with oils as it can be seen as yet another task in the morning rush and believe me, I am no morning person by any standard, I like a simple routine and out of the door I go! I often use just one pumps worth on dry styled hair, concentrating on the mid length to ends which literally takes 10 seconds. The result….goddess hair!

Now I HAVE to mention the smell of this oil, it smells so good that you could almost eat it! It has sort of a fruity sweet smell that lasts all day, I often find myself just sitting there, smelling my hair (I know i’m weird). Although this is on the pricy side, I definitely believe that it is worth the money. You only need a small amount and I believe the full size glass bottle comes with a pump….always a plus, so that it is mess free, long lasting and easy to use.

So if you are on the look-out for a cheaper alternative to Moroccanoil, a hair oil virgin or something a little different with lots of benefits that just smells divine; this Luxe Oil can be your new best friend. Doesn’t everybody want a good hair day every day?

Overall, I am so happy that I have this product in my life…..hair is visibly less frizzy, super smooth with a lovely shine. I mean who doesn’t want super shiny hair?

Have you tried the Wella Luxe oil yet? Which hair oils are your favourite?

Dr.Hauschka Cleansing Cream

Another product that I have been loving recently is the Dr.Hauschka Cleansing Cream. I generally find it difficult to find cleansers, masks and scrubs due to my dry skin type, as many seem to leave that ‘tight’ feeling afterwards. Also, many scrubs can be a little harsh on dry skin due to the exfoliant and it can be a task to decide which are worth the investment and which are ‘pulling the wool over our eyes’! But I have got to say that this cleansing cream is one of the best that I have ever tried! It has a very gritty texture (do not expect a cream texture as it says on the box) and really does give the pores a deep clean, whilst at the same time being super moisturising and calming any redness. It is evident that this does remove all traces of oil, impurities and make-up, and you are left with a squeaky clean feeling!

You are advised to roll the cream on the face in circular motions, being careful not to over stimulate the skin, but I find this along with leaving it on for the duration of your shower will give optimum results. The blend of herbal ingredients activates the skin to cleanse itself, whilst preserving the natural acid layer of the skin.

However it works, I will keep on buying this product as it really does work! It is currently on sale for £14.95 for 50ml from lookfantastic.com

Be sure to let me know what you guys think! 🙂

Review: Lancome Hydra Zen Moisturiser and Lancome Genifique

Ok so I have finally got around to doing my first blog post (hurrah!!) and I wanted to give these products a good test before I did this review. I can honestly say that they are a complete miracle duo combination and I seriously do not know how I ever lived without them! So before using these products, my skin was very very dry with red patches, especially around the nose area. I felt so stressed with it as I was trying every product out there…without any success to clear it up. In the end, i was spending a lot of money on creams that didn’t work and decided that I was no longer going to buy any more without testing them first.

So one day when I stumbled across the Lancome counter in the Trafford Centre, the lady offered me a mini makeover and I was obviously going to say yes! I told the lady about my skin and how frustrated that I were with not being able to wear a lot of make up like foundation, as it just clung to patches and looked powdery. She ended up using the Genifique combined with the Hydra Zen Neurocalm moisturiser to prep my skin for the make up and she told me that these products would give my skin the much-needed moisture that it required. To be honest, I didn’t have high hopes for these, as I had been let down by so many in the past. Then when I got home that night and the following day, I couldn’t believe it! My skin felt so smooth and hydrated, and that was just from one use! I then thought I needed to try this with a weeks supply to make sure that it was not just a one-off, so I went back to the Lancome counter and asked for a sample of each, and alas my new skincare routine was born!

The Genifique concentrate has multiple benefits such as; smoothing fine lines and deep wrinkles, boosts radiance, clarifies and evens skin tone, improves skin texture, increases elasticity and tonicity, and Hydrates. But it was the hydration and skin clarity that was key for me.

My skin still felt very smooth and the patches and redness began to disappear. I’ve got to admit, I was very skeptical as the Genifique is advertised as anti-aging and I’m 25…I wasn’t really thinking about that yet! It also has high levels of moisture in this concentrate, which is why it works so well.

Also, both of these products have a dreamy texture that seem to just melt into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. I have now been using this combo for a good 9 months now and I have never looked back. I’ve got to admit, it is a bit painful handing over the plastic to pay for these products, but they are worth every penny….and they last forever! Any skincare that has the ability to create that perfect, flawless face is worth the money in my opinion!

If you have any of the same issues as me, go grab some samples and let me know what you think! I would love to hear your comments! 🙂
