Moroccan Oil Light Review

Image

Hair oils have always been somewhat of a downfall of mine. They are one of those things that I always want to use, decide that I am going to buy for daily use, then never seem to make it a priority.  I just think….yeah….maybe another day. I guess because I have light and fine hair they scare me a little bit as I know that many can leave a heavy and greasy residue as a result. This in turn means daily washing, which I do not always like to do.

Until now, I have been a Moroccan Oil virgin (I know right…where have I been!) and then on one fine day on a trip to the hairdressers, the kind lady gave me a Moroccan Oil Light sample to try. I got quite excited by this as I know how hyped up this product is in the beauty blogging world and I was interested as to how much of a difference that this product would actually make. I’m sure that this product needs no introduction as it is everywhere, but just in case you don’t know, the aim of the product is to enhance manageability, add shine and deliver long term conditioning, without any residue in sight. This light version is specifically for fine and light coloured hair, and the formula is lighter in texture than the original, but still poses the same nourishing properties.

Let me tell you, boy am I glad that I started using my sample! I feel that it delivers the conditioning properties that regular conditioners can’t. Sometimes when I straighten my hair, it refuses to be soft and sleek and does not feel as conditioned as it should (you must all have days like this right?). By applying this oil though the mid length to ends on damp hair before drying, my hair really is a lot more manageable, shiny and so very soft. Sometimes I just sit there, running my fingers through my hair, as it is so soft (yes…I’m a little strange!). It can also be used on already styled hair as a finishing serum to achieve the same result.

The one big difference that I have noticed which has amazed me is its ability to keep hair straight and sleek even when I have been outside in the rain and damp weather. (I know…amazing right?!) It really does make all the difference; normally the slightest bit of precipitation would end up making a fuzzy, wavy mess.

I know a lot of hair products make big claims, claims that appear to work upon the first application, then deliver no long term improvements to hair health. However, Moroccan oil has helped in adding moisture to my hair, and any flyaways are no longer visible…meaning no more split ends (yay!). Additionally, it has a very subtle scent, nothing too strong but still managing to keep hair smelling fresh as a daisy!

As you can probably guess, I have ended up buying the full size 100ml Moroccan Oil Light, as I am currently in Canada and with the exchange rate, it is at a slightly cheaper price than the £31 price tag at home. Yep, not the cheapest product to buy, BUT you only need the smallest amount with each application (no bigger than the size of a 50 pence piece), so I have a feeling that this bottle is going to last me a very long time. With any luck, maybe a full years worth! So…I would see this as an investment…an investment in your hair health. Also, if you look good, then you feel good…and that to me is priceless. As a little bonus, I love the pump that is provided with the product, it is very efficient and so easy to use…one little pump and your done.

I know I am probably blabbering on a little too much now, but overall I cannot recommend this product enough. If you want take the plunge on a hair oil that actually does exactly as it says, then this is your baby. They also sell a 25ml (£13.45 on feelunique.com) bottle, which is an ideal size to try before you buy. Even when I haven’t used this oil, my hair is a lot more manageable, complete with a superior shine. If you do have a thicker or curly hair type then the original version would probably be best suited to you.

Want great hair for summer? Go and treat yourself…I guarantee that you will wonder how you have ever lived without it!

Have you tried Moroccan Oil yet? I would love to hear your thoughts below!

Have a good week everyone!

Lots of love

3. Getting into my comfy pj’s every night…I would live in my pj’s and slippers if I could!

4. Tight hugs…because everyone loves a good loving hug.

5. Waking up on a weekend morning, thinking your late for work, then realising that you can go back to sleep.

6. Crawling into bed when you are extremely tired….I love sleep!

8. HOLIDAYS! Spending time with the people that you love, having no concept of time and drinking cocktails on the beach….ahhh bliss!

9. Doing something nice for someone when they need help….to the world you can be just one person, but to one person, you can be the world. (My thought of the day, good huh!?)

A little trip up Mount Douglas

Good morning everyone! Today I have uploaded a few snaps from our little walk up Mount Douglas. The view from the top was spectacular, the photos really do not do it justice, but I thought that it would be nice to show you all anyway. Quite a quiet day all in all, which was nice as relaxation is a must on a holiday. Enjoy!

A little trip to Downtown Victoria and Sidney

Howdy all! So today we took a trip Downtown Victoria which I was quite excited about as it was described as a lovely city with many shops! And you know me…I love shopping! Downtown Victoria is indeed a beautiful city with lots of sights to see. We went inside the renowned Empress Hotel which is luxury 5 star with a grand feel. Inside was the famous Christmas tree forest; every year they beautifully decorate many trees in order to raise funds for the British Columbia Children’s Hospital. These trees are then displayed throughout The Empress during the holiday season. Below are a few pictures of some of the Christmas trees. I could only imagine how much time and effort went into the planning and decorating of these trees, it just seemed magical!

We then took a trip to Sidney, a little town by the Ocean. Another beautiful day, the sun was shining and it felt good to be by the ocean.

That was my day in a nutshell, a lot of walking around two beautiful towns. One of my favourite things in life is to discover and see new places that I haven’t seen before. What is your favourite thing to do?

Keep posted for tomorrows adventure!

Happy Monday everybody! Keep smiling 🙂

Cheeky Sephora Haul!

Hello lovlies! So….as you well know, I am in Canada at the moment and one thing that I got particularly excited about (being the beauty lover that I am) was taking a little trip to Sephora. The UK does not have this store (boo!) so I somehow felt like I could buy whatever I like and not feel guilty…anyone else with me on this one?

So without further a-due, here is what I bought:

Mirror mirror on the wall, which is the fairest palette of them all? This Marc Jacobs ‘The Lolita’ palette is nothing short of amazingly beautiful. I have heard many many good things about this in the blogging world and being a neutrals girl I just had to have it. This is not available in the UK yet so I saw this and ran to the shelf! I also thought that the price was quite reasonable, it was $71 (Canadian) which translated to about £41; for a Marc Jacobs piece, with quality this high, I had no quibbles with the price. I also love love love the packaging; it comes in a little pouch and a sophisticated looking black palette.

Again, I have heard fantastic things about the hourglass brand and have wanted to try one of their lipsticks for a long time. Another item not available in the UK, apart from online, I did not hesitate to choose one. I swatched many colours on my hand which sealed my decision even more to buy one. The texture is really velvety and creamy with the colour being super pigmented. I chose the ‘Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick’ in the colour ‘Whisper’. It is a gorgeous pinky beige colour which adds a little extra to your normal lip colour. A little expensive at $35, but this had to be expected with such a high-end brand. They are refillable, paraben free, sulcate free, phthalate free and water-resistant. I love any item that is free from nasties!

Finally, I bought the OleHenriksen ‘truth to go wipes’. I tell no lie, these are expensive and a luxury splurge for me. Just over £10 ($19) for some face wipes seems a little crazy, but they are hugely hyped up in the blogging world, so I guess my curiosity got the better of me. They are gentle, moisturising, age defying and brightening. The vitamin C and micro algae is supposed to brighten, firm and smooth skin texture. Time will tell with this one!

I am one happy girl with these new items and can see myself going back to grab a few more bits that were calling out to me. I will do a full review of these items once that I have given them a good test drive!

What items have you got your eyes on from Sephora?

Hope you are having a great day!

Happy New Year From Vancouver Island!!!

Hi all…it is 2014!! I would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! I for one cannot believe how fast last year went…it was all a bit of a whirlwind.

As you may or may not know, just after Christmas I had a holiday booked to Vancouver in Canada to attend my partner’s sister’s wedding. His dad and sister now live over here so we are quite lucky! As promised, I said that I would turn this into a bit of a travel blog (for the 3 weeks that we are here anyway). I know that I love seeing pictures and reading about travel destinations, so I thought that I would share some of my experiences with those of you that are interested :).

This trip got off to a bit of a difficult start as those of you from England will know that we are being flooded with heavy rain and strong winds (winds that will blow you out to sea!), and combined has not been too great for flying. To cut a long story short, we got here a day later after missing a connection flight in Amsterdam.

The day after our arrival was the day that we were making the 4 hour journey up to the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet, British Columbia for the wedding. (http://www.blackrockresort.com) My my my….all I can describe this venue as is incredible. Right by the oceanfront surrounded by the forest with a slightly eco feel. There were three of us sharing a suite, which was more like a penthouse apartment, very large with each room being separate. Here are a few snaps:Image

One very large rain shower (did not want to leave this bathroom!)

I think you get the idea of how beautiful this bathroom was!

Yup, wouldn’t be complete without a hot tub overlooking Black Rock! Unfortunately, I was silly enough to forget my swimwear :(.

So, there you have it…a few of my snaps from my Black Rock Resort trip. If you are ever in BC and are looking for a little luxury night away, this is definitely the place to go. Today is New Years Day, so we are having a relaxation day, but keep your eyes peeled for tomorrows little outing!

Don’t forget to follow this blog to keep updated on new posts…their will be many coming your way!

Have a fantastic New Year! 🙂
